Why cant a sim card or a mini-sim in my phone

I just got this phone as a gift, but I live in costa rica and I need to either get a sim card into it or change the mini-sim(I dont know where it is)

Acording to this website there is a mini-sim(I need it to work on a 2G network)

you need to find a network in costa rica and get sim from them
