Happy you got it to work! Now the 6 Million dollar question what is the error telling us. Most of the errors give you a clue by the heading in this case this is not one I've seen before so I'm guessing here, VM is virtual memory I think. Which of course tells nothing on what has gone bad here. It could be bad RAM or the hard drive has a bad block that was part of the VM page. I would remove the RAM and carefully wipe down with a new pencil eraser going with the grain of the contacts then wipe down the contacts with some isopropyl alcohol. I would also run Apples Disk Utility to check the drive for errors running it from the OS-X DVD or external HD. WARNING - Make sure you have a backup before you do this. If you have a better 3rd party App (Drive Genius 3) give it a try. Let us know what happens - Good Luck!

Hi Dan, Indeed very happy that it works. looking at the error VM is the memory carrier card. There are 2 of them. I have exchanged them, swapped memory banks over and tested al different combinations. That does not solve the problem. A bit more googling tells, if it is not the VM card, it can be the logicboard supplying voltages to the VM card. Or even the PSU itself. Measuring the voltage on the Logicboard to the VM cards shows that the 5V is only 4.6V !! So the new million $ questions is: is it he Logicboard or the PSU ! The good thing of it all is: step by step we will get there ! I am not going to give up that easy !

Did you try cleaning the contacts with a fresh clean pink pencil eraser to clean off the oxide buildup then wipe down with alcohol?

Not yet. 1st thing to do is make sure i have a back-up from all the data. Then i can proceed debugging. But i have exchanged the VM cards several times. I know this is not as good as the eraser trick but the contact area has been "scrubbed". And this did not help.
