" Slide to Power Off" screen and then it locks.

I have a 2G and it does the same thing. It goes to the " Slide to Power Off" screen and then it locks. It does it all the time! When I try to watch videos it does it continuously. It is impossible to watch a video. It is so dam annoying! I'm about to bust it into a million pieces! I have searched all over the web and can't find any solutions. I don't know what to do. If anyone has any ideas PLEASE help!!!!

Does it make a difference if you keep the earphones attached? Have you cleaned the power button? what have you tried so far?

My first guess would be an issue with the power button? If its indented or stuck in the down position it will bring the power off and lock the screen at its own personal desire. Is the power button still "clicky"? And by that scientific term I mean, does it gown down and pop back up when you press it?
