Does Apple know if I opened the case?
Is there a way for apple to know if I opened the case of my iPhone 3G or even a 3GS? I know there is a sticker, but other than that is there something in the OS or any other place that tells them I opened it? I don't want to get blind sided at the apple store.
Thanks in advance,
Alex

No not exactly. If you replace your screen or leave significant evidence of opening the phone they will see. When replacing the screen some people forget to remove the numbered stickers from the old ribbion cable and carefully place it on the replacement ones. This does not mean that it is 100% certain that a skilled technician will not be able to tell so use extreme caution if performing this proceedure. Be sure to look over ifixit's iPhone 3GS teardown before you do anything. Otherwise if you are opening the phone to look around be careful and have fun (do not forget to use caution). Hope that helps!

Thank you for your help and for being so detailed in your answers. I asked just because someone told me that there is a place in the os that tells the tech it was opened. Apple did replace my screen without question. I had previously replaced my battery from one purchased at ifixit. At the time I thought I would have to send my phone to get the battery replaced so I did it myself.
Thank again for your answers
