Backlight not working, replaced LCD, still no joy

History

Hi guys

Have an iPod nano with faulty backlight, tried replacing the screen, still works (which is good because it means I didn't totally mess it up) but the backlight issue still isn't fixed.

Please if you could tell me what could possibly be wrong with it AND give me some tips on how it might be fixed?

Thank you

Ali

This is normally due to the coil on the main board, not the LED.

Well, if you replaced the LCD to fix the backlight problem (and are sure the new screen didn't have the same problem), you will almost certainly have to replace the motherboard :S

The backlight is not part of the screen. It is a tiny LED behind the screen and there are currently no vendors selling replacement LEDs on ebay. There are a few videos on Youtube showing the disassembly of the nano, and they can show you the location and how to remove the LED, but if you can't get a new one to replace it, why bother?

desolder or replace the coil on the logicboard http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/UKWEb...

order iPhone 3GS 6R8 COIL for LCD Backlight http://www.aliexpress.com/product-gs/486... (its a little bit bigger) and place (glue) in the back with wiring 2 cables to solder points in the front.

dont forget to isulate with kapton tape!
