How can I externalize/extend the power button?

I'm working on a project in which I will not have access to the side of my power button. Does anybody have any ideas on how to externalize the power button? Either by alternate contacts, or finding a replacement ribbon to put in to the ZIF connector for the power/volume buttons?
I was thinking about buying a cable like this and then soldering on wires to the right contacts?
