Why won't printer recognize new black ink cartridge?

When I insert the new brothers black ink cartridge, latch it in and then shut the ink panel door, I get the message " no ink cartrage" " open ink cover and reinsert cartrage"
Any Ideas on the sensor for the cartage? I cleaned it with a que tip but still get the same message
