Why my lcd is not working after digitizer change

hi everybody!
i have a problem with my girlfriend's iphone 3g. lasy week she smashed the touchscreen so bad that t stopped working. i saw some movies on youtube and i had decieded thati can replace myself the digitizer. i bought a new one online, and i managed to change it.
unfortunately, i had a problem with the no 3 connector. and in my urge to slide it in place i have damaged a bit from the black holder. now when i turn on my phone the lcd is not lighting up. what can be?
