LCD flickering after fitting a new one.

Hi guys , I fix all types of apple products for a hobby and ive came across a problem with ipod 3g lcd, i have changed the lcd on it and i have triple checked the ribbon for any rips or anything bad and all is good, this has happened on the ipod 2g aswell 2 days ago , i was told to try a restore and im now having all around problems with it lol :( so my question is , have you ever had this problem and what is the best way to trouble shoot with out buying more lcds .
