Can I turn on my device remotely

History

my ipod was stolen earlier today but it has a screen lock on it so that when you lock it you need a password to to unlock it however when i tried to use the find my iphone feature from icloud it says my device is offline and a side note says that if your device has a lock it may not be able to find it, is there anyway for me to turn on my ipod or unlock it remotely in order for me to use the find my i phone feature and get my device back

Which version iPod Touch do you have?

Time for you to head back to the Apple Store and buy a new one.

Chances are, thieves use DFU mode and restore a new firmware and bypass 'Find My iPhone'

Sounds to me like it won't find it due to being locked. Before you buy anything, try to place your iPod into DFU mode and restore with your iTunes, that should disable the password. After you remove the password, recheck and see what you get.
