Rippling LCD after replacement

I just used the guide to replace my cracked iPhone 4 LCD/Digitizer. The guide was informative and I got it done pretty easily, but I think I've messed something up;

Everything appears to work OK, but after reassembling the phone, I've got two pretty noticeable problems.

Firstly, the screen 'ripples' under even slight pressure when touching it. I'm not sure how to describe the effect but when you press down really hard on a liquid crystal display, you get the rippling rainbow effect, well that is happening even under slight pressure.

Secondly, the screen doesn't sit completely flush with the case around the bezel. It appears to bulge out slightly on the edge above the earpiece grille. I've disassembled it again and there doesn't appear to be anything stuck between the frame and the display, and nothing seems to be obstructing it.

Any ideas?

Thanks
