says ''Do not disconnect.'' but it wont do nothing

i have an ipod nano 5th generation and i reseted my ipod about 6 months ago, and i havent used it since then. But now that i wanna use it when i turn it on it says Connect to Itunes and when i connect it, it just says Do not disconnect. but it wont do nothing i leave it connected for like half an hour and nothing happens. Im really annoyed and i dont know what to do now .
