How to upgrade and unlock my iPhone 3G?
Dear Sir
I have an 2.0.2 version iPhone 3G with me.This is not a factory unlocked one. Yesterday when I tried to upgdade my iPhone to version 3.1.2(7D11), it got locked and my phone got isolated from the local service provider.So I couldn't make or receive calls. When I reached a local repairing centre , ha asked me a huge amount for unlocking and uogradation to the newer version.Please help me in sorting out this issue so that i can upgrade and unlock my iPhone from my home.Please to remember that this is not a factory unlocked edition.

The iPhone Dev-Team has built their reputation of knowing exactly how to jailbreak devices. Unfortunately, your out of luck in terms of receiving the new 3.1.3 firmware so you'll have to stay away from that for now. All the juicy details can be read here: http://blog.iPhone-dev.org/ I had my 3GS jailbroken at 3.1.2 and lost it when my phone got stuck into DFU mode. I know your looking to unlock your phone, but without paying a hefty price, this is your best bet. After jailbreaking, GeoHot has released a downloadable program called blacksn0w that unlocks your phone very simply and can be downloaded from Cydia. But like I said before, it only works on 3.1.2 since apple just updated the baseband with the 3.1.3 release.
