problem with Graphic card

When I open videos, high quality pictures or even blank pages for a long time on my laptop, the laptop get too hot and if I don't stop the process, it will automatically shut down. I think my graphic card's fan is damaged, but I was wondering if you could tell me the problem is about the graphic card itself or its fan and how can I fix it up.
