Many programs will launch with boot up-Very Occasional

History

HI Everyone

My MacBook Pro Retina will very occasionally launch a whole lot of programs such as Pages, Word and Mail when I boot up. It's really weird as they seem to just come out of nowhere.

I never have the 'Reopen windows when logging in' checked. This happens maybe once a week or so and I power off the unit at least once or twice a day.

Does anyone have any ideas on this one?

Thanks in advance

Charles

You can delete the programs that are automatically opened during start up at the System Preferences>User and Groups>Log in Items. Where you can select applications that you don't want to open during start up

HI Mac Thanks for your reply. I have have no log in items at all. This is why I find it so strange that this happens occasionally.

Check if your applications are set to launch on startup. For example, right click an application that is on the dock, then click options. There should be an option that says: Open at login, if this is ticked, click it again to disable it.

Hi Patrick I have just checked 'Word' and 'Pages' and neither of them are checked to open at login. As I first mentioned, the opening of, for example, these two applications is a random occurrence. It will happen maybe once a week or so and I power off the rMBP at least once or twice a day. Any other ideas?
