Replace Superdrive with second HDD?

It is possible in this model to install a secondary HDD in the place of the disk drive? I have little to no use for it, and the thought of a SSD boot drive + a 1TB secondary makes me quite happy.

It can be done. But to accomplish the same end with much greater ease and not void your warranty, just plug in an external 1TB drive for $80.00, here's one on sale: Western Digital - My Book 1TB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive for Mac http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Western+Digi...

Blake,

Good idea!

I found something on a website here, and perhaps you could modify it to fit your needs.

Many times I have though about the same thing, and making a case from aluminum flashing or sheet metal, pound it around a block of wood cut to specs, install and secure the HDD, drill and screw back in with silicone calking as shock dampener, but I have yet to make that commitment.

If you do it, please let us know and take photos.

Regards,

Frank
