Replaced battery, no charge, no reception, no wifi

So I just replaced my dying battery with a new one only to notice it wouldn't keep a charge (works only when connected to power outlet and shuts down when disconnected).

There's no service or wifi as well.

I double checked and tested all the connections and when I replace the new battery with my old one (which still has some juice left) everything works fine.

So I'm quite sure this isn't a connection problem.

But what is it? Is it the new battery not working correctly?

I was expecting this to be easier and more troublefree than it is now.

Thank you for your help.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Have you found out anything else? Did you resolve your issue?

I just replaced the battery in a 3gs ... most cautiously without doing any visible damage under magnification.

Fully assembled:

- not charging

- doesn't respond to power button

- no wifi???

Redid all the steps. Same.

Update

I'm still waiting on new exchange battery. Phone has been fine on original battery.

To update.

I opened the phone back up for the third time, inspected everything under magnification (no damage, dust, ... whatsoever) and put the original battery back in.

- power button works

- wifi is on and usable

- it charges

So must have received a bum battery ?

Or a battery with some bum little circuit board on it?
