iPod 4 does not conect to itunes from device or computer

can not conect to Itunes. Itunes does not reconize the ipod is conected to computer. Also can not conect to Itunes from app on device
Have you tried a hard reset? Have you tired to place the iPod into DFU? Does your computer still recognize the iPod? Do you get the ding sound when you plug it in? Have you tried a different cable, and /or a different USB port?
