Why no startup chimed? Runs fine.
My unit has no startup chime; however it runs just fine otherwise. Despite the lack of chime the startup routine completes perfectly and all software runs well.

On some macs if the volume is set to 0 there's no chime. I also recall an app that would cut the chime for those users who wanted to boot secretly (quietly) e.g. late at night at home, or perhaps in an office or classroom... check for either of those.
