no start up chime or display

History

I recently replaced a faulty power supply, when i try to turn it on, the fans come on and i can hear the hard drive spinning, but there is no start up chimes or display.

-FIXED- when my power supply went out, it did so during boot up, this corrupted the boot portion and somehow damaged one of my ram sticks, after replacing the power supply, i removed the bad stick (causing the no chimes) and put in a new hard drive and re-installed the os, it booted just fine. i was even able to get data off my old hard drive and reformat it to be an external drive.

The chime means all is well - you have no display so all is not well. Check the LED lights inside the machine... it may point to the source of you other problem.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I've found if i only use one of my two ram sticks it will start, the screen turns on, and the chimes play. the circle spins for 10-15 seconds, and them the system shuts down, and this is the problem i had before i changed out my power supply. any ideas?

postmordum,

What are the LEDs showing during this time.

machead3,

my intel mac version is so old, it does not have debuging lights, but i figured it out, thanks for all the help.
