Why does my xbox 360 turn off?

My Xbox 360 falcon turns on for about 5 minutes then it abruptly turns off

insufficient ventilation???? fans are working fine.

This is not something that I have ever witnessed before. If your system was over heating then it would give you a 2-red light problem and shut-down. Have you tried grabbing a power supply from a friend to test out your system? That is where I would start.
