When screw sizes are stated in the guides, does the mm(length) include screw-top cap depth? Are shank widths?

Example: LCD REPLACE:

Step 5 — Upper Case ¶

Remove the following 3 screws:

o

One 11 mm Phillips #00 in the middle of the case.

o

Two 14.5 mm Phillips #00.

Yes - see: fastener measuring the # is the driver size. That number, such as "Phillips #00" or "Torx T5" are not characterized by a linear dimension, but are for the most part arbitrary designations in the same sense as a "Size 8" shoe or dress.

Hi Machead, I got two answers. You say top IS included. Oldturkey03 says otherwise. Threads only. Thanx for your response. it helps. I can't figure out how to 'accept & return' on this page. crocdog

Crocdog, that is a question, which only the person who wrote the guide, can answer. Habitually, when measuring any kind of bolt, only the length of the thread part is measured, not the bolt head. Hope this helps, good luck.

Bolts? I thought they were screws.

Crocdog,

Crocdog, what I said is, that only the person who wrote the guide, can answer it for sure. We do not know how the person measured it. It is not common to measure the bolt head in the length of the screw.
