Froze at end of song won't reset
Original iPod was playing along in car while powered with adaptor when it froze. Does not respond to reset. Screen displays "now playing" and shows song title and indicates end of song. Had recently completed sync and battery charge on iMac.

try giving the ipod a good smack on the back case.
FF90, the "smacking" may work sometimes, but is at best a temporary fix. It may free a stuck drive, but the drive should be backed up and replaced for a permanent fix. You should always let people know why you want them to do certain things.....
I know, and I thought about the same thing. Just trying to help out by providing answers that the person who asks, understands why they should try something. It makes it easier for further trouble shooting etc. Yours is not a bad answer at all, just difficult for someone to understand, why they should smack their iPod. You may get "funny looks" :-)
Try to restore with iTunes and see if that changes anything.
oldturkey03,
Update - screen went blank on its own. Tried menu/play reset and get battery with triangle/exclam ation point image. Going to connect to iMac to recharge/reset.
Robert Moran,
Let us know what happens.Sounds a bit like a stuck HDD...
oldturkey03,
It showed up in iTunes and I did a restore. I'm letting it recharge now before I sync it. What's an HDD? Thanks for your interest.
Robert Moran,
HDD = Hard drive sorry about that.
oldturkey03,
I thought that's what you meant but the 2nd "D" threw me off. By the way what does the Score signify?
Robert Moran,
You mean the equal sign = ?
oldturkey03,
No, at the top left of the page describing my question there's a Score of zero together with a double-ended arrow. Is that for me to score, or others, or....?
Robert Moran,
OOOOOHHHH :) That is the scoring system on ifixit. If you like an answer or a question, one that was (is) helpful to you, you upvote that, if it was absolutely wrong or malicious, you downvote it. Downvotes should be reserved for absolutely wrong or just mean spirited answers. Most of us on here agree to only use that as a last resort. The upvote is basically a "Hey, thanks you helped me out" Does that make sense? Good questions, the ones that others can learn from, can also be upvoted. One should never upvote ones own question or answer. So, whenever you feel that an answer helped, or that you think it is a great question, use the arrows to vote on.
