My touchscreen is not working after replacement.

I followed the step-by step to replace a cracked screen, but when I turned it back on, I was unable to slide the initial bar to unlock and access my home screen.

If I did indeed pinch the cable, can this be undone by taking the phone apart again and freeing the pinched section? once pinched, does this ruin the connection?
