iPod Touch 1st Generation: iPod Touch recovery mode & USB Device Not Recognized

Hello.

I have a 1st generation iPod Touch 8 GB which is not recognized by the computer and is in recovery mode.

I have tried lots of things to recover it - I tried installing LibUSB, DFU, different computers, and different cables. They all end up the same way - Windows says "USB Device Not Recognized."

I tested it in Ubuntu 10.04 - it said something along the lines of "device descriptor read/64, error -64" in dmesg. lsusb shows nothing about the iPod.

In Device Manager, the iPod, labeled "Unknown Device", has error "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

All help is appreciated.

iPhone 3G: No USB Connection after I broke little SMD element near connector #4!

I can neither charge the iPhone nor connect it to iTunes. Nothing happens when the phone is connected to a USB/charging cable. If the iPhone is off, connecting a cable turn it on.

It seems I broke a little SMD element near connector4 of the logic board when I disconnected this connector with a screwdriver!!!

Does anybody know what type of SMD element that is and where I can buy it? It is so little that I lost it on my table and never find that part again!

See picture:

Update

I am having this problem, but I just checked my board and that SMD looks perfectly intact. What else could be? The connector 4 is firmly attached as well...

Samsung Captivate: Micro USB port not connecting to my PC.

The pins in my Samsung Captivate have bent inside the port and broken off from normal use. Now the phone charges slowly and isn't recognized by my PC at all. Therefore, I can no longer transfer media, backup, or enter download mode to flash with Odin. Any information or help with this would be greatly appreciated.
