iPod Classic: How can I understand if there's a problem with HDD Connector?

Hi everyone, I have red cross problem with my iPod. I have changed its casing but after that replacement, it started giving red cross. By the way, I can get red cross with only when connected to a power source. Otherwise it doesn't turn on. I have tried it with my Creative Zen Vision's HDD but got the same error. Now I'm thinking that it could be hdd flex connector (because i treated it a little rude) or logic board (might be a statical electricity or any other thing). How can i understand which of these is affected?

iPod Nano 3rd Generation: Reset loop - Apple Logo/Red Cross

Hi

I have a 3rd gen Nano 4gb that is caught in a reset loop. The Apple logo appears for a few seconds then it goes to a red circle with cross in before looping over and over.

If on AC it loops the Apple logo to 'please connect to iTunes'

Things I have tried:

~ Diagnostic mode - passes all ok

~ Reset

~ Disk mode - does enter disk mode and iTunes will prompt to restore but resets before completion.

~ Restore mode - after a reset it doesn't stay on long enough to enter

~ Hard reset - doesn't appear to work

Any other ideas what i can try?

PS

No water damage, never opened.

Cheers

Neil

iPod Classic: Red X and circle!

So, I dropped my ipod in water and now I have a red x and circle symbol with the words apple.com/support/ipod. I have searched this website, and I know that it is a problem with the hard drive and I need to either a.) restore my ipod, and or b) replace the hard drive, but I don't know what to do! My computer will not recognize the ipod. I understand that you can replace the hard drive, and I can't really send it in since it is water damage. Can I do it myself? How do you replace a hard drive?
