PS3 Guitar Hero Controller: PS3 Guitar Controller 2d button releasing on its own, can it be fixed?

My son's PS3 Guitar Hero Controller's second button on the fretboard is not acting quite right. He presses it and it may work, or if he's holding the note it may simply release itself even though he's still got it pressed. Sometimes it says it's pressed when another button is pressed. Is there something I can do to fix it or will he just need another controller?

PlayStation 3: Laser Replacements, PS3 Games & DVD's, but no Blu-Ray?

I repair various consumer electronics mainly game consoles and Macs. For some time now, we've been seeing A LOT of issues when we replace PS3 400AAA lasers, to that where the "repaired" unit will read DVD's and PS3 games just fine but it will not read Blu-Ray movies at all. Even resetting the video settings and restoring the unit to factory defaults, does not work. Are there any tips from you all or fixes that you'd be willing to share? It would be most greatly appreciated!!! Really, any help or comment at all.. lol

PlayStation 3: Having Y.L.O.D. Repeated Problems

I was wondering If someone could help me with this problem. Recently I got the ylod on my PS3, and I ordered the ylod fix kit from this site, and I used It and was successful with repairing the PS3. The PS3 worked for about 2 weeks then when I was playing Dead Nation the game froze about 10 minutes In and the system shut off and beeped. I then turned the system on the next day and played Wipeout HD, and the system did the same thing, froze 10 minutes In, turned off and beeped. The next time I tried powering the system on I would just get the ylod. So I took apart my PS3 again today, and cleaned out the fan, the casing, etc. and put it back together and It still has the ylod. I was wondering If anyone else knew of any other problems that could be causing this, because when i try powering It on the fan turns on for a second and then the quick ylod comes and beeps. Thanks for reading this and thanks for any advice.

However, the system is never truly out of demo mode. Several features are unavailable on this PS3. I can not access features like Netflix and other online resources.

I can play DVDs/BRDs PS1,2&3 games, access the internet, and other basic functions. I tried swapping out the HDD with no change in performance. This leads me to believe that the demo mode is hardware deep. Has anyone successfully unlocked one of these demo PS3s?

PlayStation 3: Noticed blown resistor, what size resistor do I need?

While pulling my PS3 apart to fix the YLOD problem I saw the tell tale black mark on the mother board were one of the surface mount resistors blew. It has a 2 marked on the part. This part is located on the top of the mother board near the back at the HDMI port, directly below the board where it is marked COK-002 TH2501.

Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do?

More to the point, does anyone know what size I need to get and a quick place to get it?

The HDMI port is the first port next to the burnt spot on the board.

PlayStation 3: Screw stripped on PS3 harddrive, how to YLOD fix?

I bought a ifixit.com YLOD fix kit, and everything went very smoothly until I arrived at removing the harddrive. The blue screw is stripped and I cannot remove the lower metal panel to access the thermal pads without removing the harddrive. I suppose my question is, can I commence with the heating/finishing procedure or will it be pointless/harmful? I've tried various methods of removing a stripped screw, short of drilling, but I feel that could be risky with such a delicate process.

PlayStation 3: PS3 heatsink clamp screw broken

Hey, guys!

Short history: After more than 4 years of great service, my PS3 FAT was a bit warm and I decided to reapply the thermal paste. Everything went good, except that I broke the heatsink clamp screw.

I was just rescrewing it in place and it suddenly got a bit harder to turn. One more little turn and 'snap', it was broken, with part of it inside of its hole. So now the clamp over the Cell Chip has only one screw holding it, what is not enough to force the heatsink into contact with the Cell chip.

If you look at this picture (not from my system), the broken screw would be the lower-left one on the picture: http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/OLZ2u...

The result is that now the fan goes 100% within seconds after turning on the console, and the message "The system is becoming too hot blablabla" is shown without even logging in.

My question is: do you guys have any idea about what I can do to overcome this problem?

I was thinking about using something (like a thermal pad) to fill the space and force the contact. Is this a bad idea?

Thank you very much.
