MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2009: not charging and would not work without being plugged in

hello

A friend of mine spilled water on my Mac Book Pro a couple of weeks ago. We left it so it dries for a few days. It is working fine now, except for one thing: It needs to be plugged in and would not work on battery only. When I plugged it in initially after the accident it had around 80% battery left, and I did not realize there was a problem then so I did not plug it in. I kept on using it until it was left with almost no battery. I plugged it in then, but it said "Not charging". So since then, the only way to use it is to keep it plugged in.

What do you think is the problem? Would it be the battery or the battery connector or something else?

The computer is in warranty and I would go to the Apple Store, but I am not sure if they would cover any damage since the liquid indicators might show the spill.

PowerBook G4 Aluminum 15" 1.5-1.67 GHz: PowerBook G4 1.5-1.67 GHz won't boot or charge the battery

Hi,

I'm using a Powerbook G4 15" 1.67 GHz. Last week I was using my computer as normal when it suddenly shut down. The battery was dead, and the charger had a reputation for being flaky, so I reattached it. It booted, but then the reserves on the battery ran out of power and it died. The light on the power adaptor then went out.

Upon trying again, and again, it worked, but with shorter and shorter battery lives. Now the batteries are completely dead. It won't charge the batteries.

I replaced the battery and the charger with no luck, and I've replaced the DC in/sound board. The symptoms are the same.

If run with no battery then the machine makes the brief whirring at the beginning as it spins up the HD, but then it turns the fans on and doesn't turn them off. The screen remains black.

Is there anything I can do?

If not, there's a lot of data on there which I'd like - how can I either:

i) kludge some sort of battery simulator which will provide continuous power to the battery port (I am 100% certain that it runs fine off battery)

ii) Charge the battery externally (I don't have access to another Powerbook G4, at least for the time being)

iii) Get the HD out and read it with another computer?

I can't afford to send it off for data recovery, and since it's out of warranty I can't afford an apple repair either (I think they won't do it anyway, since it's a legacy product)

Any help is much appreciated - I'm getting kinda desperate here :S

Thanks.

iPhone 3GS: Replaced Battery no longer booting up stuck on Apple logo

I just replaced my iPhone 3GS' battery yesterday and as soon as i put it back together nothing happened. black screen, I rechecked all the conections in the device and im sure everything is fine, when installing i did accidentally break off the grounding contact located near the "do not remove" sticker, could this be why its not working. Also if i charge the phone through my computer, but if i charge my phone through the wall charger it eventually turned on, but would only display the apple logo, no spinning wheel or anything . Im going through right now attempting to put the old battery back in to see if that fixes anything

***update***

just put the old battery back in the phone and now it will turn on without being plugged in to the wall, but is still stuck on the Apple logo

***update***

its now being reconised in itunes, so possibly just a battery compatibility issue.

the apn for the battery was 616-0435

MacBook Pro 13": Will not go past white screen w/ turning gear.

I've got a MacBook Pro that is stuck on a white screen w/ an apple on it w/ a spinning gear. I have left it doing so for over 2 hours and still nothing has happened. I have tried holding the shift key in order to boot to safe mode; once this is done, the grey bar loads but reverts back to white screen with apple on it and spinning gear. I have also tried holding down the Command+Option+P+R and it still will not get past the screen w/ apple and spinning gear. I have tried the Mac OS x Install DVD, gone to the disk utility and attempted to repair. I left this over night and returned to a still-3-hour-wait on the repair. I decided to then cancel it and noticed a "Burn Image" feature... I clicked to the Users folder and noticed my things were still there. I was going to attempt an Archive and Install but noticed that this disc (10.6 OS x) does not have an option for it that I am not seeing. How do I get my data off of this Mac? Is it possible to Archive and Install?

EDIT: Tried creating a "New Image" using Disk Utility and the error reads: "Unable to create Media Backup.dmg" (Cannot allocate memory)"

Suggestions?

MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Late 2011: Split coffee on MacBook and parts are not working?

I split coffee on my macbook pro. I stripped it apart to check the LSI indicators and all of them seem to be in tact (oddly). The macbook does not start up, however sometimes if i plug in the power and constantly try to power it up, it does power up. It works fine, so i am assuming that the motherboard is not burnt.

I do however not have any keyboard control. It might be me just not inserting the keyboard cable correctly when assembling the macbook together but i just think my keyboard is fried because even though i can see backlight though out the whole keyboard, only a few buttons are actually lit up.

Now another problem is, when the macbook was up and running i restarted it, and it works. I also tried to hold down the power button so it shuts down however it does not. So i am assuming there is somethign wrong with the power button?

(i had this problem before, my macbook is 2 old, and it just did not turn itself on anymore. I took it to applecare and they replaced the unibody, they told me the power button was faulty?! )

Finally, because the LSI are not turned on, and i assembled the macbook back to how it was screw by screw, would you think i can still get it serviced under applecare?. What would you advise i do?

A few months ago my Toshiba laptop started beeping. I could always get it to shut up so, I wasn't that concearned. Later it completely shut me out. After trying and trying I finally got in to let me in. It's memory was erased.

Today when I tried to turn my laptop on, it started beeping and took me to a black page with white letters that said:

A disk read error occurred

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

When I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del it restarted without helping the issue.

I went to toshiba.com to try and find something to help me. I downloaded a laptop checkup and put it on a disk using my other computer. I tried the disk out in my laptop and it kept reapearting:

Check Cable Connection PXE-MOF Exiting Intel PXE-ROM

No Bootable Device- Insert Boot Disk And Press Any Key

Intle UNDIE, PXE-2.0 (Build083) Copywrite 1997-2000 and Intel Corperation Four Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.0.2.7 (11/02/10)

I have combed the internet for answers and tried everything I can find. I can't fix it. Someone please help me.

iPhone 3GS: iPhone Not Booting, Error 21 When Restoring, Not A Battery Problem

I have bought an iPhone 3GS logic board off eBay and have tried to restore it to the latest firmware, 6.0.1, and receives error 21. The iPhone is stuck in DFU mode and I have tried to restore to multiple other software versions apart from 6.0.1. It sometimes shows a white screen.

The rest of the iPhone is fully functional as I have replaced the logic board with a working one and the iPhone is absolutely fine, so I'm pretty certain it is not a problem with the battery.

I have tried many things including redsn0w and others but nothing seems to work. On the latest version of redsn0w, 0.9.13b3, there is an option to restore the iPhone, which I have tried to use (yes I have the SHSH blobs for it) and I can get it to the Apple logo and the restore bar, but the process does not continue.

Please help if you have any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
