After a full charge. I am able to use the unit. Then when finished I turn it off but it then starts to power back up with the "apple logo" and then shuts off....eight seconds later powers back up with "apple logo" and continues this process until the battery power is drained.

I have run trouble shooting programs from Apple website, but this does not correct the problem.

Apple suggested I take it to a repair shop.

iPod 1st Generation: New battery not charging

I have a 10 gig, 1st generation iPod (yes, from 2002!) that won't charge. I bought and installed a new Newer Tech battery. When I plug it in, it powers up and the battery icon shows it charging. After a few minutes the screen goes blank. When it is disconnected from power it is dead. I have restored from iTunes and hard reset with no success. (BTW, when I hard reset while connected to power (press and hold menu and play) the screen goes blank, then momentarily flashes the dead battery icon, then the apple logo and powers up.)

Any ideas? Could the "new" battery be old and unable to charge?

iPod Nano 3rd Generation: Nano 3g doesn't work after battery replacement

Just installed a new battery. Did a complete reset, have latest firmware and laqtest itunes. Shows charging, left on all night, shows charge complete. When disconnected from chArger, shuts down. In diagnostic mode, battery charger shows 100mAh w/ 2.5 volts. I'm guessing bad solder connection, or bad "new" battery. BTW, which wire is the charging wire, white, red or black? Any way to check voltage when charging with back cover off. I know it's risky but it would be nice to check connections before I have the back cover replaced. BTW, the ipod operates perfectly when plugged in. Thanks.

added: What would be a reasonable voltage on a new battery before install to check for a bad one?

iPod Nano 1st Generation: My iPod does not detect scroll wheel or button.

About a year ago, the device was left on a table and sometime in the night, water was spilled and the nano was left overnight surrounded by it, but only a thin layer. After that, the iPod stopped turning on. A few minutes ago, I tried to see if it would work, so I plugged it in and it turns on, but the scroll wheel will not function, nor the middle button.

Also, this is probably something else but, the nano seems to shutdown after being unplugged.

I would be happy to know if it can still be salvaged or not.

I made an appointment with the smart heads at apple and they want to sell me a new one for $149.00. They want to trade the old one for a new one and 1 year warranty. The tech didnt even took 5 minutes to check it. He told me Oh! Theres something wrong its not comunicating with my Pc. You need a new one. Sounds to me like I bunch of boloni. Im an Hvac tech and do it yourself type of guy and I really belive in checking things out first before making a decition.I think its the battery because I was on vaccation in Daytona Beach and we took the I pod with us. The Resort that we were staying in had a radio that had a dock and we plug the ipod in it and it charge it. We were litening to music on the radio. Now the battery its dead again and we have try to charge it with the pc and with the radio dock and its not taking charge. So that is why Im thinking its the battery. If anybody have any suggestions Please let me know. Thank You.

iPhone 1st Generation: Can you replace the battery without soldering?

Is there room in the iPhone to simply cut the old wires, strip the end, and then attach the leads to the replacement battery wires? (of course using some heat shrink tubing to insulate the connections.) It shouldn't take up that much extra space, if you judge the lengths correctly. Judging by the photos here, I think there should be enough room.

I read so much about the difficulties of desoldering and soldering on the iPhone board, thought this might be a safer route. Of course, you still need to be careful not to cause a short, etc.

I have a macbook mid 2007 that shuts down immediately after it is unplugged from AC. I've tried the battery on another machine and it works fine as well as trying a known good battery in this machine. Also I've tried a known good AC adapter. Other things I have done are run the hardware test which shows no errors, reset the smc and Pram, repaired permissions etc. the battery appears normal in the menu bar and says it is fully charged. Also it Appears in system information as normal.coconut battery also appears normal with 275 cycles.I'm hoping the problem lies in the Battery Connector with Sleep Switch and not the logic board. Anyone had any experience with this problem?

One other strange thing is that after unplugging the AC the system shuts down immediately, but once you plug it back in it starts without the power button being pressed.

MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Models A1226 and A1260: Is there a way to change the low battery warning threshold?

I have a slightly defective battery. The battery thinks that its capacity is higher than it is, and my system completely shuts off when the reported capacity hits 28%.

This actually isn't a huge problem-- I'm pretty diligent about watching it and getting plugged in before I hit 28%. BUT it would sure be great to get a low battery warning when I hit 38%.

(The ideal solution would actually be to reprogram the battery to think its capacity is accurate, but I don't think that's feasible without accessing its internal electronics.)

How do I know if the problem is in the DC-in board or in the logic board?

I tried all your recommendations (reset PMU,PRAM, removed the memory module and another AC adapter) but no success.

I suppose it is not a DC-in board problem because if I disconnect it from the logic board there´s no beep. I think the beep sound comes from the processor area, is that possible? is there some kind of speaker on the logic board???

is very strange because the iBook works well with the battery, so I assume that the processor is not dead.

MacBook: Will battery cycle count change with calibration?

I just bought a used battery for my wife's MacBook.

Her battery had 450 cycles or so.

Now I know I am taking my chances on a used battery from eBay, but the seller deduced that this battery has less than 100 cycles. He explains that it came out of a broken computer and is 'good as new.'

I plugged it in cold to her computer today and the cycle count was 732!!!

So I am going to calibrate the battery of course, but will my cycle count change after calibration? And if not, what can I do to determine the true cycle count? Maybe it is 732, but if it is, I think I want my 20 bucks back.

MacBook Core 2 Duo: Not recognizing battery after coffee spill

I have not inspected the laptop yet, but this is what I know: Coffee was spilled on laptop. It was taken apart and dried/cleaned. I believe rice was used at some point. After putting it back together the laptop works fine on AC, but when using only the battery it will shut off. It does not recognize the battery when running on AC. Battery works fine in another laptop - it's battery does not work in "spilled" laptop.

I suggested disconnecting AC, remove battery and let dry for 4 days. No change. Is it possible that incorrect reassembly could contribute to this? Is it possible that the battery connector has failed? My gut says it's the logic board. I am trying to diagnose this for my daughter and do the fix myself. I have extensive PC experience, but not Mac. I would appreciate your comments and will answer any questions you might have. Thanks!

MacBook Core 2 Duo: Dropped in snow, battery sometimes not recognized

My laptop was dropped in snow due to an unfortunate ripped bag accident. Everything seemed ok except that there was a tiny snowball in the ethernet input that I quickly removed. Even the magsafe connector appears unaffected.

My computer can boot with or without the power adapter and can be charged for about 20-30 minutes before the battery is suddenly no longer recognized, giving me the message "no batteries available". The computer continues to operate until I unplug the AC adapter, at which point the computer goes to sleep until the AC adapter is plugged back in.

ADDED NOTE: If I shut off the computer, remove the battery and put it back and then push the power button, the computer will turn on and operate as normal. The battery sometimes becomes immediately unrecognized when the AC adapter is plugged in and at other times takes 20-30 minutes.

The battery button tells mehow much the battery is charged and the battery in fact is still chargeable. The only problem is that after 20-30 minutes is that I get the "no batteries available" message. (the adapter light goes green at this point, btw)

I have already attempted to reset the SMC and I do not think that the battery is the problem. What do I need to do to fix this problem?
