i have bought a modern chrome floor lamp that has a dimmer switch attached to the cable,but the wire was not long enough to reach to the plug so thinking i could just cut it and add more wire that is what i did,now the lamp will not work at all and i do not know how to open the unit at the top of the lamp to replace the wire
