Title:

1x8GB RAM chip in MacBook Pro?

Text:

I would like to upgrade the RAM in my 15" Late 2008 Macbook Pro , and I heard that with a firmware update I can install 2x4GB=8GB.

Unfortunately, a couple years ago, liquid damage killed my lower DIMM slot. The upper slot still works, and I have a single 2GB RAM chip in there now. Can the macbook handle a single 8GB RAM chip, or does it need the 2x4GB?

Thanks for your help!
