Title:
Water damaged MBP, replaced DC-in and Logic board, no start.
Text:
I was given a mid 2009 MBP that had water damage. The original owner told me that water came in through the ports, not through the keyboard. The logic board side looked as though it had damage, but the HDD/optical side did not to me.
I believe the computer sat for several (6+?) months after it was damaged.
I went ahead and replaced the DC-in board and the logic board. I know the HDD is good as I tested it already. The RAM looked spotless with absolutely no corrosion so it was reused.
Now that I have all of that done, I plug it in to my known good magsafe, it appears as though it's charging, starts green for a second then turns amber, stays solid, but there is absolutely NO LIFE from the MBP. No battery indicator lights, no response from the power button, etc.
I've let it set charging for a couple hours with still nothing. Tried the SMC reset, but without any life at all, not sure if it did anything.
My only thought is that maybe the battery is completely fried and won't allow it to start. I don't have access to a spare battery without purchasing one. Is it possible to start it without the battery?
Any suggestions what to do next?

Edit: After about 3 or so hours on the charge, it switched over to solid green on the magsafe, like it's fully charged. Still nothing. After work today, I'm going to try to resear the keyboard ribbon cable and possible jump the points on the logic board to try to start without the button.
