Screeen Display Adhesion to Motherboard.

I have a RAZR MAXX. I have watched several RAZR (not RAZR MAXX) teardown videos and can't tell if rumors are true. Is the screen display assembly adhere/glued to the motherboard? In one of the videos it looks like they just pry the two apart. First question: How much risk is there in prying the two apart? Second question: assuming they are glued do I have to apply some glue when I reconnect the replacement screen display with the motherboard?
