Can not insert cd/dvd into the superdrive. Clicking sound.

Before I purchase a new superdrive - I would like to explore any possible solutions.

The drive had been working fine - ejected a cd and now I can not insert a cd - seems that the drive is simply blocking the insertion of a disk. Is their a process to "reset" the superdrive?
