Red X Problem, where can I buy a HDD Ribbon Cable?
So my friend gave me his 160GB Classic for free because it has that red x problem, I've been trying to fix it for a couple hours with no success.
Overview; The ipod turns on, is able to reset, but doesn't get past the apple logo (turns to red x)
It will not show up in itunes, however if I reset it twice (menu+select) itunes detects it and states 'Your ipod needs I to go into recovery mode' or somthing along those lines, I click okay, a bar loads, and then nothing happens.
I was trying to follow this gu
However I get stuck at the very first point; Putting your ipod into disk mode.
This is where I get confused, I was told in order to go into disk mode I must unplug my ipod, reset it (dont know if I should once or twice as it only works on itunes if I do it twice) then without taking my finger off the center button click and hold play (nothing happens and eventually the red x comes up)
Yesterday someone told me to try going into diagnostic mode and letting it die, then recharging it, I did so and it did not work. However now I can't even get it back into diagnostic mode (reset, then select, previous)
Is there some kind of method of clicking for putting it into diagnostic mode and disk mode that im doing wrong?
Or maybe my HDD Ribbon Cable is just broken and it needs to be replaced?
If so where do I purchase that? I heard you could off this website but couldnt find it under the Ipod Classic parts.
Help would be appreciated.
