First hold it on an angle against some light and make sure that you screen is totally not working. Sometimes you will actually have a display just very very dim, indicative of backlight being out. There is a fuse on the logic board for that and Chiwu12 found it just check http://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/21971/The+fuse+for+my+backlight+is+out%2C+where+is+it if you have actually no displaudisplay, you will have to replace it.
