I recommend going in this order:
Get a [http://www.ifixit.com/search?x=0&y=0&text=sata+hard+drive#0-Hard+Drives+SATA+|replacement hard drive] and a [product|IF107-097|hard drive enclosure].
Next you have a couple options(Doesn't matter which option you go with):
A) Put the replacement hard drive in the external enclosureenclosure. Boot up your laptop and use Disk Utility to format the new drive, then use SuperDuper to clone your old hard drive to your new hard drive. ThenFinally, take the new hard drive and follow the guide to put it in your laptop.

Also, check out our [http://www.ifixit.com/Misc/HD_Software_install.pdf|HD-Software Install Guide]. Option 2 will go into detail about using SuperDuper to clone your old hard drive to your new hard drive.
