Title:
Samsung 830 SSD not Detected by MacBook Pro
Text:
I have a MacBook Pro, Early 2011, and as the Title of my question suggests, the SSD is not detected.
I am assured it was not dead as I tried it in 2 different computers, a desktop and a Windows Laptop. In both Machines, Windows 7 and 8 would install just fine. However, in my MacBook it does not appear in the Snow Leopard, Lion or Mountain Lion Disk Utility in the installer of the Operating Systems. Neither does it appear in an Ubuntu Installer.
I previously had a 1 TB drive, and before that the stock Hitachi 500 GB Hard Drive, which I installed yesterday just to check. The funny thing is, if I put in an external case, it works just fine and there is no fuss, and I can even install Mac OS X (OS X).
Things I have done so far:
- Check to see if the SSD is in working condition.
Works!
- Check to see if OSes install.
Works!
- Check to see if it works stable.
Works!
- Check to see if the MacBook itself works.
Works!
- Ran Apple Hardware Test.
Works, but doesn't detect any storage device.
- Remove ODD to see if it makes a difference.
Made no difference.
- Put in external case.
Works!
To sum it up: MacBook Pro 13" EY2011 won't detect Samsung 830 128GB SSD
