chris, I definitely suggest using the right tool. A hair dryer is most likely not going to reflow your PS3. Follow [guide|3654|this guide]. MostEven a reflow is not a permanent fix, most of the failure of this fix is not enough heat for to short off time. Hope this helps, good luck.
