lock won't work (not sweated on) doesn't lock anymore

I've had my nano 5th gen since it came out. Now all of a sudden my lock won't lock the screen. Yes it's been dropped but very few times. Plus I've not sweated on it nothing spilled or poured on it. My lock just doesn't work anymore, can you give me a simple solution that I can use?
