battery not recognized and not charging.

My macbook problem was with the speaker. I did purchase the pair in the Ifixt, follow the steps to return but when I closed the mac my machine would not turn on and only managed to connect with magsafe.
When you try to turn on, the battery is not recognized, the icon is an X. The side lights that indicate the charge did not working.
The macbook was bought in April 2011 and my battery was working very well until I opened to fix my speaker.
The notebook works only with the magsafe plugged.
What can it be?
