Horizont lines on LCD's

Hi there. Couple days ago one horizont line become on my iMac 17 A1173 screen. I try to get information from apple servis. They said problem can be with LCD and replacement its much expensive then my iMac now.
Its anybody try to fix LCD with horizont lines ? its problem are focused on elastic cable, or in electronic in LCD?. I think problem could be somewhe in parts in LCD, and as we know LCD are expensive and maybe its no need to replace whole lcd but just some of the parts.
