My netbook is stuck in a startup loop...?

I took apart my acer aspire one Zg5 to try and format the hard drive inly to find out theres a Intel Z-p230 PATA ssd 8gb inside. I have no idea how to format if even possible. Im wondering if just replacing it will fix the problem? If anyone knows any other options i would be very greatfull for help..
