iPad 3G: Replaced comms board - now "There is a problem with your iPad"

I was repairing an iPad where the Bluetooth & Wifi was greyed out.

I thought the Wifi/BT chip on the comms board was faulty so I swapped the comms board with one from another iPad. Both are 3G iPads.

Now it just shows the "Connect to iTunes" screen and when I connec it says "There is a problem with your iPad."

All the connections seems fine. I've done a DFU restore and it does the same thing.

Is anyone able to help?

iPad 3G: Keyboard keys are ingored while typing

Hello Guys! I really need your help... I replaced the touchscreen digitizer on my Ipad 1 3G and everything seemed great except that with the new touchscreen I immediately realized that while typing the keyboard keys: L,K,S,A,G are not responding correctly.. In other words, I really have to press hard or tap the keys a couple of times before I see it.. Everything else works fine... When I swipe back and forth or when scrolling that all is fine... If it wasn't for all those keys. What shall I do?

iPad 3G: Ipad 3g early version different?

I have an Ipad 3G A1337 which was purchased on the release day for this device. I was successful in lifting up the digitizer. However, I've noticed this Ipad looks different inside compared to the pictures and videos I've watched. The digitizer cable I can see but not where it ends. There is a black piece going down the entire length of the left side from top to bottom which is covering up the digitizer retention flaps. No screws were holding down the black piece to be able to take it out. Thus, I have no way to release the digitizer cable at the moment with this in the way. I'm doing research online to see if there are early version 3G Ipads like this that were worked on. Has anybody run across this Ipad? Can it be worked on at all? I have to install a new dock connector.

iPad 3G: So if/when I break the clips...

I have an iPad 3G that needs a charging port replaced. I ordered the charging port cable, and sat down to watch some repair videos.

Everything I have seen and read indicates that I WILL break MOST of the Digitizer clips when opening it. I don't have a replacement screen or extra clips.

Is there a way to open it, replace the charging port and seal it back if the clips are broken? Or do I just need to order clips (how do they reinstall?) or even a new digitizer?

I am missing the glue already.

iPad 3G: Ipad3g dead, was crushed

I received an iPad3g that was ran over. While the display and touch panel were broken, the internal parts did not look bad. I cleaned it up and put it back together. The display shoes white light so I ordered a new display and touch pad. I put it all together doublecheching all connections but now it is dead. While it was apart I tested the battery pack and it tested good. Prior to taking it apart I had put the new screen and noticed that the battery was almost dead as the display worked but when I attempted to charge the unit overnight it did not charge. Also, it did not get detected by my laptop and I tunes diagnostics could not communicate with it. Does anyone have any schematics with testing points I can use to diagnose? Note I disassembled this device down to the shell in order to reform the warped shell.

iPad 3G: Digitizer cable ripped, can I replace it with my old one?

My daughter dropped the Ipad and cracking the screen. So I bought a replacement screen. I was able to remove everything and get everything back to where it was however when I was trying to reconnect those 3 cables. The digitizer cable cable ripped. (see pic below)

iPad 3G: Battery not charging at all? Can it be something else?

Hi,

I've an iPad 1st Gen which doesn't charge at all.

Of course I've tried different cables and chargers.

When I connect it to power, the iPad "knows" that iit should charge, because the empty battery screen changes the icon below. (if I remember correctly, it goes from "Plug-arrow-lightning" to only a lightning icon).

I left it charging more than a night (I know it requires at least 10 miinutes) on a 10W charger, but nothing changed.

Can this issue be caused by something different than a dead battery?

iPad 3G: IPad 3G connection problem

After a couple of days of using my ipad 3g 64GB I got an indication ''No Service" at the point of the screen where the providers name and the signal strength indication used to be. I did a hardware reset, and a network reset but without success. Also my provider (Vodafone) changed the microsim in order to check if the problem was from the card, but the card was OK. The problem remains the same. Any idea ?

I just replaced the glass / Digitizer on this iPad and the digitizer is acting like I'm touching it when I'm not. (False Reads) I pull up the keyboard and it goes "click, click" and dissappears. And in Angry Birds it is randomly pausing and zooming in and out and all kinds of other stuff.

5-27-2011: I just did this same repair on another 1st Gen iPad 3G. Same thing is happening. But this time I popped the digitizer back out of the case and it works fine. So it seems like when I snap it into place it is acting up. Am I squishing something? I just don't get it.

iPad 3G: Transfer 3G Antenna To New Glass

First I am not sure I am referring to this antenna correctly. On step 18 on this page it refers to this antenna as the GPS antenna:

Installing iPad 3G Front Panel Assembly

but on step 7 on this page:

iPad 3G Teardown

it sounds like it is referred to as the 3G antenna. Regardless I am trying to transfer the antenna pictured in step 7 on this page:

iPad 3G Teardown

I can get the antenna out from between the glass and the frame but without using a heat gun I see no way of getting the antenna back in the new glass (no mine did not come with the antenna, and no I did not get it at ifixit). I have tried placing the antenna in place but I get VERY poor 3G. I looks and sounds like this is do to how the antenna is supposed to use the frame as an antenna.

Does anybody have any experience with transferring the Apple antenna to a new frame that does already have an antenna?
