iPad 2 GSM: Replaced Screen but now won't sleep/lock

I recently replaced my Ipad2 screen. Everything went smoothly except now my Ipad won't go to sleep/lock when I press the power button. If I press and hold the power button the Ipad powers off, and if I press the power button+home it takes a screen shot. So the hardware must be fine...right? What could be wrong? Another page says: http://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/85009...

This says to Unplug the power to it...what does this mean? How do I do that? Thanks! Any other ideas?

Hi. Some day ago my ipad2 wifi+3G (european) stopped to recognize the sim card. I tried everything, iTunes reset, dfu reset, removing sim card, activating and deactivating airplane mode. Nothing...the sim card is ok on my phone so seems to be a hardware related issue and I'm out of warranty since march 1st (%^%%!!).

There's something I can do myself? Thanks!!

I changed all the antennas. but in fornt of cell it take only 2 bars. What can I do?

I replaced the digitizer on my iPad 2 and it has caused some new issues. First, the iPad only charged 4% over night after the replacement. Secondly, the home button is only working intermittently. Lastly, it is randomly resetting itself when I plug it in.

I have a mate who has an iPad 2 and from dropping the device so many times, he has damaged the camera as well as completely shattered the glass.

He wants to repair the camera but wants to know if either an iPad 3 camera can be put in or if there is a replacement camera on the market for the iPad 2 that has a better resolution/quality.

I dropped my ipad 2wifi+3g which landed on the volume rocker. Consequences are that volume is continuosly at maximum level and have volume "icon" permanently at the centre of the screen.

Hi, I'm new here, and I have successfully replaced the digitiser on an iPad 2 after the screen was cracked. During the replacement, the wifi antenna had ripped, so replaced the part with a replacement.

Since replacing the part, it will not pick up any wifi signals in the house and surrounding areas, even the iPhone shows about 3 networks to connect to.

I decided to take it to work as we have 3 wireless networks, and the iPad picks them up with no problems. The wireless access point sits about 5 metres away. About 6 metres away sits a Cisco DSL router configured on 802.11n and it can't pick that up.

Any idea what could be the issue here? Could it be a software problem? I have hard reset the iPad and no difference.

Hi,

I have several iPhone and iPad which have a similar problem often. They have almost all experienced a different accident:

- Flood damage

- Big crash

- Error recovery

All these devices will not start and shows no signs of life.

I can put in DFU mode and try a restore, when prepare the iPhone / iPad for the restoration, the device disconnects and then nothing. iTunes seems to find the device but can not find it. After waiting a few minutes, iTunes gives me the error 1600/1601/1602.

I think it's a motherboard problem. There is a concern of auto-boot, as I am obliged to put into DFU mode so that the device responds a little.

I already exchanged the motherboard to test the components that work properly and still the same problem.

Do you have any solutions or tips for me?

After fixing my screen (replacing with a new one), I noticed that my Screen can't go to sleep anymore, even with my Smart Cover. The Sleep button also won't go to sleep, but if held down, it will power off (Slide to Turn Off screen appears). It will also turn on if it's pressed if it's turned off.

However, if power button is pressed, it won't wake up from sleep mode.

Is there anything I could have removed by mistake? The green cable seems to be fine, and if it was cut, the power button wouldn't work at all, am I right?

Hi There

I recently replaced a cracked touchscreen on my iPad 2 GSM, however on replacing the screen I have found that my home button is not working any more.

I have tried repositioning the home button on the digitizer and the two contact points on the home button PCB are lined up to reach the two contact pins that are connected to the dock connector.

I also bought a new home button PCB and tried that but it does not work either.

Can anyone give me some advice on anything else I can try to fix the problem?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

We're making a child proof iPad case that will add two big handles to the side of the iPad by sticking a big plate of metal to the whole back. When it covers the black area of the GPS antenna, will it affect the reception of it?

now testing my ipad i notice all the button are responsive except the power button the only time it seem to respond is when i hold the power button down to turn off the device ,the power button does not let me turn on or off the screen.

Hi all i have a broken digitizer on my ipad 2. After replacement able to power up but not responsing when i touch any area of the screen. Unable to slide to unlock. Initially thought was the new faulty digitizer that i had bought online but after i got the 2nd replacement the issue is still remains. Can any kind souls help me on this issue? I think I carefully followed all the directions to replace my LCD screen. The screen was completely cracked but the iPad worked fine before I replaced the screen. Now, when I hit the On button, I get a completely bright green screen - lots of lines - that look like static. In the very center of the screen is a picture of what looks like a typewriter with a lightning bolt directly above it.

Obviously, I've done something wrong. Any clues?

Hi,

I have repaired like 5 or 6 broken glasses of iPad 2 WiFi before this iPad 2 3G (GSM). I never had a problem before it.

Everything went fine until I was preparing to reassembly the device. I turn it on before fixing the new glass to the frame and I realized that it turns off every time I make a small move in the device.

So now it is completely useless because you cant hold it without get another reboot.

I have tried switching the logic board. I put in this iPad 2 3G the logic board of an iPad 2 WiFi and the worked fine. But then when I put back the gsm logic board the same problem shown again.

Anyone have any experience with this kind of problem?

I am going to make more test, but I think it would be great if we share more info about iPad 2 troubles.

I accidentally dropped my iPad2 3G and the aluminum part close to the speaker is a little bit bumped (and has this flat side to it). What should I do? Does iFixit have a replacement or will Apple help me replace the back cover?

This is why I was thinking to change my smart cover to smart case (third party cases)

I've just replace the digitizer on my iPad 2 GSM, and now the home button doesn't respond. I don't see how the home button even interfaces with the logic board, as it seems to just be a small PCB board behind the actual button, that doesn't connect to anywhere... Any ideas of how to fix please?
