Super Nintendo: Why is my picture distorted?

I brought my snes out of storage after a few years. I hooked it up properly, inserted super mario world, turned it on and I could clearly read the words "Nintendo presents" but when it went to the next screen the picture looks jumbled-like a jigsaw puzzle that's missing pieces. I tried another game and it was the same. I cleaned the games and the console. I tried 3 other t.v.s and it's the same. I have audio, but a jumbled picture. Any ideas why, or how to fix it would be great.

PlayStation Vita: Cannot Turn on Vita Unless It is Charging

I have had this issue for the past few months, and have tried just about everything.

To break down the problem my vita will remain stuck with a black screen and the ps button will glow continuously blue. Usually you can resolve a simple crash (that this Blue Light of Death implies) by implying restarting/rebooting the system. However, regardless of what you do in the safe mode menu, whether it be reboot, system update, factory reset, and/or any other option. The screen will flash, go black and the ps button will continue to glow blue.

The only way to get it to turn on again is to wait for the battery die (thus the blue light stops glowing), then to charge it (where it glows orange like it should normally). And then turn it on. And let it be known, ALL of its functionality is in tact! The touch screens work, the buttons work, EVERYTHING works! It is simply a nuisance because if i leave my vita on for long enough it goes into sleep mode and then can't turn on again. This also occurs when i try to shut down the system. It supposedly turns off, but the ps button will continue to glow blue.

I sent the system to sony because it was under warranty but they sent it back saying because of the scratches and slight water damage (which is irrelevant to the systems problem i believe), that they would not fix it (here they did not even attempt too). I have tried dissecting it to see if anything is amiss. Taking out the battery while its glowing blue and putting it back in again DOES help it turn on again, so i wonder if this problem has something to do with the battery, the cords that are connected to the battery, or the button panel in relation to the ps button?

I have tried explaining my problem on playstation forums and there seems to be no solution (or at least not one anyone is willing to talk about). And the issue i talk about it often dismissed and misunderstood as simply needing to be rebooted (which is false).

Lastly, although my system may have scratches and had the slightest of water leak inside (which AGAIN did not affect the system ((to my knowledge)) ), there are others on the play station forums who have encountered this problem within a week of their original purchase. Is it perhaps then a factory defect or otherwise? They also were confused as to a solution.

Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue?

Nintendo Wii: Will not turn on with red power light

I've been having issues with my Wii where the red power light is illuminated but the console will not turn on. I tried doing an AC Adapter reset and that didn't work. I checked the DC voltage and it's just over 12V like it should be. So then I followed this guide to reseat the bluetooth card but no dice. Then I read somewhere on how to do a bench test by taking one component off at a time and checking power. After resassembling the console I started over and too my behold I found that applying power after removing the optic drive made the light go from red to green. My question is, is this a safe solution to my issue? Could the red light be due to a bad optic drive?

I bought a N64 on ebay not so long ago and it doesn't work, here is what happened...

It came in the post with various games, I tried starting it up but there was nothing on the screen. The consoles light does light up when the power is on therefore I would presume that it isn't a power problem.

I tried all the different games to see if it was the fault of the games but still no picture. So I decided to try cleaning it out because of reading online that alot of them don't work because the insides are dirty. After a few hours I had finished the cleaning and it still didn't work!

There is no noise coming from the console just the light comes on and the screen is as if there is no appliance plugged into it.

Nintendo Wii: Wii Freezes Upon Spinning Up Disks

My Nintendo Wii worked correctly until I left it in the car in the cold for a few days, and moved it between a few houses.

It now freezes at the Channel menu about 10 seconds in, when it begins to try to spin up a disk. It freezes before it shows a game if one is inside; it only shows the disk loading animation. The Wii then freezes completely, and must be restarted by holding down the power button. Before it freezes I am able to sync remotes, remove and put games in, and move the pointer on the screen.

I am assuming it's an issue with the disk drive, but I was hoping someone on here could give a second opinion. If there is any more information anyone may need, I'll try my best to give it.

Thank you.

Sega Genesis: Bad, Noisy, buzzy sound

Hi!

Today I plugged my old sega genesis (I'm writing from Portugal, here we call it mega-drive), didn't use for at least 10 years. The last time I used it, it was good, I'm almost shure didn't have any problem.

Today, I plugged it and I notice the image was bad, but the worst part was the sound. I'm gonna try to describe the best I can, with my bad english, the sound was buzzy, noisy... I thought it could be a problem with the tv, or the cable, so I plugged my headphones to the genesis, and it was the same. I'm sure the problem is with the console.

I've read it could be the voltage regulator, is there any way to test them? DO you have any idea of what could be?

PlayStation 3 Slim: No Video - Shuts Off With Blink Red Light

So I have a PS3 slim I'm trying to get working. The console won't output any video, and after being on for about 30 seconds or so it will beep and the light will change from green to red and start blinking until you push the power button, at which point it will stay red (as it would when it's off). I've tried HDMI and composite, and I can't get any video off of either. If I try resetting the video settings by holding down the power button it will just turn on and and then off after a few seconds but will not beep in between as it should.

I've tried switching out both the power supply and the hard drive with no luck. I plan on heat-gunning the video chips if you guys don't have any suggestions.

PlayStation 3: No video after firmware update and RLOD tshooting.

I have a old ps3 fat system and i just updated the firmware from usb thumb drive. Now i cant get any video at all on the system even when i go into safe mode. I have both the AV connection and the hdmi connected but cant get anything.

Any idea's?

Update

Also FYI my opinion on the waser or coin fix for the RLOD or YLOD. Dont do it. At the very best it is a short term solution. What you really do when you make this "fix" is you greatly decrease the amount of surface area on the cpu or gpu that is in contact with the heat sink. I did this "fix" on one of my broken ps3's and within minutes of playing a game the fan kicked into high and stayed there. A sure indicator that once this fix is in place the unit was having issues cooling itself off. There are shims out there that might work better because they are copper and have about the same area as the cpu and gpu. The coins or washers though i can say from experiance are not worth even doing as a fix you will be pulling the thing apart in no time to try fixing a ylod again. It might even make the issue worse because the unit cant cool off fast enough and end up in an actual hardware fault. If you have marathon game sessions find an aftermarket cooler to help supliment what is there and prevent a YLOD there are many out there for every ps3 that has been created from cheap to only semi cheap but all for less than a new ps3 game. If your a kid and you cant afford to buy one yourself take the hit and ask for a cooler in place of a game, it will help you get much more life out of your gaming system.
