Apple Wireless Keyboard: Can a keyboard be repaired after small liquid spill?

My Mac bluetooth aluminium keyboard suffered a small kitten-induced water spill. I dried it out, but predictably, it's now behaving a bit strangely. Most of the keys are fine, but a few are now operating in pairs, e.g. if you hit either the Y or the U key, you'll get the same output which is 'YU'. There are six pairs of keys that are behaving like this: HJ, NM, YU, 67, ;/, and space'.

Is it even possible to repair this keyboard? I hate the idea that I'm going to have to throw out an otherwise perfectly usable bit of kit.

Apple Wireless Keyboard: Replacing broken keys -- is it possible?

This is a great description/teardown. One question: the "L" key on my keyboard came off. I tried to replace it following the insights in the teardown (realize teardowns are not a repair guide!) but not sure if it's possible and wondered your opinion. The part that came off was the plastic cap that has the letter printed on it. The rubbery thing underneath (the piece that holds the key suspended over the button, so to speak) was still in place, so I pried that off with a sharp point. Then tried to join the plastic cap to the rubbery piece, but with no luck. In fact, I broke the little plastic tabs on the back of the plastic cap trying -- so pretty sure it's destroyed for good. Question is, any idea what I did wrong? Is this situation fixable? In your teardown, did you manage to salvage a working "L" cap that coud be purchased? Thanks again for a great explication of this otherwise pretty good piece of hardware. Kevin

Apple Wireless Keyboard: Opening keyboard WITHOUT ruining it

I saw the teardown pages for the keyboard, and I just want to open mine, clean whatever 'gunk' is in it (I think some liquid got in it when I cleaned the keys even though I used a damp cloth for that & sprayed the cleaner on the cloth, not the keyboard itself), preventing several keys from working and put it back together, but I don't want to ruin it (in case I ever decide to sell the iMac).

Apple Wireless Keyboard: The battery cap is corroded on. How can it be removed?

I picked up the apple wireless keyboard from a friend who wasn't using it. I went to put batteries in it and found out that it was stuck.

Then I:

Tried a basic flathead

Tapped around the head with a small hammer to see if it would unseal

Attempted a vice and nickel method--I now have a torqued nickel.

So far no direct access method has worked.

I also read the Batteries Corroded & stuck thread n here.. That allowed me to know there was a panel on the back. My KB is a little different, the panel is more in the middle. I opened it up and see there is a battery--so I'm nearly sure it's a corroded battery that has leaked onto the aluminum screw and caused all of this.

Anyone have ideas on how to solve this?

Keyboard working fine for over a year. Battery terminal clean, new batteries checked, good power, inserted properly with visible check after removing small plastic cover over strip connector. Keyboard powers up ok with additional evidence of caps lock LED functioning properly. The computer does not find a Bluetooth keyboard connected.
Apple Wireless Keyboard: dropped it & now keys type the wrong letter

Hi,

I recently dropped my Apple wireless keyboard, it's the one that comes standard with the iMac (it's the A1314 model). Most of the keys still function properly, except for the numbers 1-9, & the keys Q-O. Every time I try to use them I get, both a letter & a number. For example, when I hit 1, it types q1, with 2 it types w2, with 3 it types e3, with 4 it types r4, & so on, 5 = t5, 6 = y6, 7 = u7, 8 = i8, 9 = o9, & 0 = 0. The same thing happens when I try to use any of the keys Q-P, with Q I get q1, etc. all the way through to O. Does anyone have any ideas as to why that is &/or if it's possible to fix it. If so, how. I saw the teardown of keyboard model A1225, but I'm not sure if that's helpful to me or not. I'm not very tech or fix it savvy. So, I may be in way over my head here, but I figured I'd see if there might be a way to salvage my keyboard.
